Sourish Murthy

Software engineer — cloud platforms, secure hardware, and trading infrastructure.

I'm a software engineer at Privoro, where I build cloud platform features for secure mobile hardware — device provisioning, OTA updates, MDM integration — and own the manufacturing test function that every device passes through before it ships.

Lately most of my time goes to security certification work and to building things that make slow, manual processes measurable: an image-recognition inspection system that halved per-device test time, and AI-assisted tooling for evidence generation. Outside work I build backtesting infrastructure for futures traders.

Experience

Software Engineer · Privoro

Jan 2024 — Present
  • Built core cloud platform features in production: automated device check-in/out, MDM integration, over-the-air and bulk OTA updates, subscription management, and end-user alerting.
  • Lead the manufacturing Final Test function, validating every device against manufacturing and security standards before shipment — audio, camera, sensor, and communications testing.
  • Designed and integrated an image-recognition system that replaced manual visual inspection, improving defect detection while cutting per-device test time from 22 to 12 minutes per station — roughly doubling daily throughput.
  • Lead NIAP Common Criteria certification of a network device across the Network Device, VPN Gateway, and Firewall Protection Profiles plus Full Disk Encryption: cryptographic diversity analysis for CSfC compliance, FIPS validation, PKI management, SFR testing, and technical evidence authoring, with AI-assisted tooling to accelerate the process.

Software Engineering Intern · Privoro

May 2022 — Dec 2023
  • Analyzed a database service for performance and stability issues and implemented optimization strategies, yielding a 500% throughput increase while improving maintainability.
  • Led an overhaul of the Kubernetes infrastructure, designing an automated testing environment in Python and bash that surfaced 7 critical bugs, cut cloud downtime 50%, and reduced testing time 95%.
  • Shipped a custom shell tool for common Kubernetes workflows, cutting team onboarding time 40%.

Projects

Robotics

VP Programming · Newport Robotics Group · FIRST Robotics

Sep 2018 — July 2020
  • Led a team of 30–40 programmers building and maintaining the software for our competition robots.
  • Taught Java, object-oriented programming, motion profiling, and vision tracking to new recruits.
  1. Infinite Recharge · VP Programming

    Jan — Apr 2020
    • Fully developed the ball shooter subsystem, including sensor interfacing and PID integration.
    • Isolated vision onto a dedicated Raspberry Pi to keep load off the main processor.
    • Designed and implemented robot LED signaling to improve communication with the drivers.
  2. Deep Space · VP Programming · World Championship Finalist

    Jan — Apr 2019
    • Built a tool for creating and deploying new autonomous paths instantly.
    • Applied motion profiling to smooth those paths, which measurably extended motor life.
    • Rewrote commands to consume camera data for visual object tracking on the field.
    • Retuned the PID feedback loop for a new robot and interfaced a new sensor generation with the existing codebase.
  3. Power Up · Programming Lead · District Semi-Finalist

    Jan — Apr 2018
    • Built continuous robot position tracking on the field.
    • Programmed autonomous commands for faster, more accurate scoring — cutting routine time 40%.
    • Extracted data from client programs for a strategic advantage during matches.

Leadership

Tech Lead · Google Student Developers Group

Sep 2020 — May 2023
  • Rebuilt the group's website around what the team actually needed it to do.
  • Headed a team designing lesson plans for Git, OOP, and related fundamentals.
  • Organized workshops helping students solve real problems around the university.

Hackathons

Leaderify · ASU Hackathon

Sep 2021

ReactJS · ExpressJS · AssemblyAI · AWS S3

  • Built the backend and server side, added speech recognition via the AssemblyAI API, and moved storage onto S3.

Tipper · CMU Hackathon — Award Winner

Mar 2021

Flask · Node.js · Azure Cosmos DB

  • Implemented the Azure Cosmos DB layer and the Flask/Node backend behind it.
